AAWP is one of the best Amazon affiliate marketing plugins for running an Amazon affiliate site. However, the question is, should you buy the AAWP plugin for your Amazon affiliate site?
The majority of niche site builders who use Amazon Associates highly recommend this plugin. I also think it’s a useful tool for running an Amazon affiliate marketing site. So a few days ago, I went on to buy my AAWP plugin license to start using this Amazon affiliate plugin. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use that plugin, but there wasn’t anything wrong with the plugin.
Affiliate Disclosure: Some of the links in the blog post could be affiliate links, which means we’d earn commissions if you buy the products, but it won’t cost you any extra money. Please read the disclosure page for more details. |
I’ll share what exactly happened and what you should know before buying the AAWP plugin. I still recommend this plugin and can’t wait to get on board with them again in the future.
Before I dig deeper into this, I should tell you that the AAWP plugin is one of the most popular paid plugins for the Amazon Associates program. However, it’s not created or managed by Amazon whatsoever. It’s someone else’s product.
Let’s get to the main part.

Should You Buy “AAWP Plugin” for an Amazon Affiliate Site?
When you visit the AAWP plugin website, they clearly state a requirement to use this plugin. And, I applaud how transparent they are with their sales and marketing. Here’s what you need to use the AAWP plugin on your affiliate site:
Amazon API: Accessibility
If you go through the AAWP website, they clearly say that this plugin doesn’t work if you don’t have access to your Amazon API. So it’s useless to buy this plugin license if you don’t have access to the Amazon API. You may already know that you need to generate a few sales to get access to Amazon API.
Since I’ve had a few sales in Amazon Associates program in the past and the Amazon API was accessible to me, so I went on to purchase my license without any hesitation. The license key worked just fine, but the Amazon API didn’t respond to the plugin.
And that’s where I started scratching my head. Then, I reached out to the customer support of AAWP and explained everything to them. I thought it’d take at least 24 hours for them to respond, but they barely took an hour to respond to my email. We exchanged a couple of emails, and they figured out what the problem was.
Amazon API: Connectivity Requirement
I learned that to access Amazon API through this plugin, one needs at least three sales in the last 30 days or so. If a user doesn’t meet this requirement, even if the person had generated affiliate sales in the past, the Amazon API won’t be accessible, or the plugin won’t work.
It was brand new information for me. If I have had this information beforehand, I wouldn’t have gone ahead and bought the plugin so fast. Thanks to the AAWP support team, they were kind enough to offer my refund right away, and I got my money back in three days.
Should You Buy “AAWP Plugin” for an Amazon Affiliate Site?
So if you’ve gone through this brief blog post about the AAWP plugin, you may already know the answer that only getting access to Amazon API isn’t enough. You also need three sales in the last 30 days to be able to connect your AAWP plugin to the Amazon API. If you haven’t generated three or more sales on Amazon Associates for quite some time, then wait for the sales to come, and then go ahead to buy this plugin.
The point is that if you just started working on a niche site or a blog, then perhaps you haven’t got access to Amazon API or haven’t met the minimum three sales criteria in the last 30 days.
In this situation, buying an AAWP plugin won’t make a difference. Now I’ll buy the AAWP plugin once I’m generating Amazon affiliate sales consistently. Getting the API access only isn’t going to cut it.
How Am I Using Amazon Associates on an Affiliate Site without AAWP Plugin?
You must be curious how I’m monetizing my affiliate site with Amazon Associates if the AAWP plugin didn’t work out for me. I’ll be glad to share a simple solution with you. If you’re stuck right now, then the good news is that you can still monetize an affiliate site without the AAWP plugin.
So let me share the nitty-gritty of what I’m doing right now to monetize my affiliate site with the Amazon Associates program in three simple steps.
Step #1: Add OneLink Code to Your Site
The very first thing you might want to know is what this OneLink code does. The answer is that it identifies the visitors from different countries and direct them to their specific Amazon websites. The benefit of OneLink is that you don’t lose commission if a visitor from the UK click on your Amazon US link and gets redirected to Amazon.co.uk.
To get started with the OneLink implementation, you need to go to your Amazon Associates program account and look out for the OneLink code. It’s super-easy to set up the Onelink code. The Amazon Associates OneLink section would provide you with a code to insert along with the instructions to place on your website or blog. Once you’re done with that, you’re all set to earn commissions from multiple Amazon sites like Amazon UK, Amazon Spain, Amazon France, etc.
Step #2: Handpick a Few Products to Promote
Since you don’t have access to Amazon API or you aren’t meeting the three-sales-in-a-month requirement, you’re left with this option: handpick a few products and promote them until you meet the eligibility criteria.
It is what I decide to do. I’ve handpicked a few products that align with my blog niche, which I’ll be promoting for the next few months. Remember that step #3 is the most integral part of this strategy.
Step #3: Build Reusable Tables in WordPress
Once you’ve handpicked a few products to promote, you can build tables in WordPress and add them to reusable tables. What it would do is save the tables, and you won’t have to create product tables every time you publish articles.
Since you’d be working with a few products and creating 10 to 15 tables shouldn’t be an issue, it would save you a ton of time afterward. This way, you’d be able to get on with your Amazon affiliate site. Otherwise, you’d feel stuck and give up on your niche site or monetization with Amazon Associates.
How Will You Monetize Your Affiliate Site?
The reason I wrote this blog post is that I wanted to share my experience. I’m sure that I have been able to showcase my experience. I have nothing against the AAWP plugin; they’re amazing. I can’t wait to get back to them; all I need is to generate a few Amazon Associates sales in the next few weeks without AAWP. It’s not going to be easy, but I got to try out.
